TEAM ULTRA

Team Ultra, named by the students throughout Marshall County elementary schools that participate in this after-school program, started at Sharpe Elementary School. Initially, the program started as an after-school running club. However, over the last few years, it has evolved into a much broader focus with the intent to not only continue to promote healthy physical (eating and activity) habits, but also character development. The motto of Team Ultra is “We REEP What We Sow”. As we engage in activities and challenges throughout the school year, we also promote the REEP concept contained within our motto. R: Respect self and others; E: Effort in all things we do; E: Eating habits (mostly healthy); P: Physical activity (most days of the week). The activities that we engage in promotes movement and fun. We strive to avoid playing specific sports (soccer, basketball, kickball) in there traditional manners so that individuals that might be more or less talented at a particular sport are not “singled out”. At present, Team Ultra is one afternoon per week at Sharpe, Calvert, and Central Elementary Schools.
